Wall Panelling

Panelling gives a room proportion and quiet structure. We make it to measure from drawings, scribe it to walls that are rarely straight, and finish it in place so it looks as though it has always been there.

Styles we install

  • Full-height Georgian and Victorian panelling with raised or flat fields
  • Dado-height wainscot with dado rails and skirting
  • Shaker and box panelling
  • Fluted and slatted walls, including timber slats
  • Bespoke mouldings matched to existing period details

Materials and finish

Most painted panelling is made from moisture-resistant MDF, which stays stable and takes paint well. Where the wood is to be seen, we use solid timber or veneered panels. Every joint is filled and sanded before decoration, so the finished wall reads as joinery rather than boards on a wall.

How we install it

  1. 01 Survey and drawing: we measure the room and draw the layout around windows, doors, sockets and radiators.
  2. 02 Profile sample: mouldings and panel proportions are agreed before fabrication.
  3. 03 Installation: panels are fixed and scribed to uneven walls, floors and ceilings.
  4. 04 Decoration: filling, sanding and painting to the specified colour and sheen.

Questions

How much does wall panelling cost?
It depends on the style, height, material and the number of openings in the room. We quote from a measured survey.
Can panelling be fitted to uneven period walls?
Yes. Panels are scribed to the wall, floor and ceiling so they sit tight without exaggerating the irregularities.
Can you match existing panelling or mouldings?
Yes. We take profiles from the existing work and have mouldings made to match.
